Gunman ‘executed’ with Skorpion machine in broad daylight following row about quad bike

A gunman was captured on CCTV moments before being “executed” in broad daylight following a row about a quad bike. Gavin Parry, 31, was shot twice in the head with a Skorpion machine gun after confronting Theo Bailey and Dante Kalsi.

Half-an-hour earlier, Mr Parry was seen riding a yellow quad bike into an industrial unit in Birmingham which he was trying to sell. A row broke out and Mr Parry left the scene but returned 26 minutes later with a gun and wearing a bullet proof vest.

CCTV footage showed Mr Parry walk towards the unit carrying a gun seconds before he was blasted to death.

Bailey was also caught on security camera dialling 999 and telling police he was an innocent bystander who had just witnessed a shooting.

Detectives later discovered the footage and Bailey and Kalsi were arrested on suspicion of murder for the shooting on April 13, 2021.

Officers also found five unfired Skorpion-compatible bullets at Kalsi’s home, along with a screenshot of a press release on the murder and prior internet searches related to firearm conversion.

Last November Kalsi, now 29, was acquitted of murder and manslaughter but was convicted of perverting the course of justice.

On Tuesday, he was jailed for three years at Birmingham Crown Court. During the trial, jurors heard Mr Parry was “ambushed” before being shot “execution style”.

Bailey, now 34, was convicted of manslaughter and jailed for 22 years. The court heard Bailey and Kalsi unhooked the CCTV at the industrial unit before Mr Parry entered.

But police discovered a hard drive containing the damning footage of Mr Parry’s final moments and Bailey’s fake 999 call.

Detective Chief Inspector Jim Mahon, of West Midlands Police, said: “Gavin Parry was killed in broad daylight after a trap was set, meaning that he would be shot upon his return.

“Bailey and Kalsi took deliberate steps to disable CCTV to conceal the crime. Automatic firearms are exceptionally dangerous and have devastating consequences.”
