A three-year-old British boy tragically lost his life after falling from the fourth floor of a hotel corridor window while playing with his dad on holiday in Cyprus.
The boy’s 37-year-old dad was arrested after the incident near Chloraka on Sunday evening. The child’s family had just arrived for a summer holiday the day before he fell. Emergency services swarmed the scene before taking the child to Paphos General Hospital.
Police received reports of the fall at around 6:40pm on Sunday and the toddler later died of his injuries in hospital. The family have another five-year-old girl, who is also with them on the holiday, reports the Sun.
It’s believed the boy fell from an open corridor window in the hotel. The dad was reportedly arrested on suspicion of causing death by a reckless, negligent or dangerous act, neglect of duty as the head of a family, and failing in his responsibility as a person having care of another. He appeared in court this morning.
Meanwhile, a young child has died following a collision with a car in a UK village. Emergency services were called to Nottingham Road in Gotham, Nottinghamshire, at 2.28pm on Sunday, July 12.
Tragically, the four-year-old girl died a short time later in hospital. A 59-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been questioned and bailed.
The investigation is being led by Nottinghamshire Police officers in the Serious Collision Investigation Unit who are appealing for witnesses and anyone driving in the vicinity at the time who may have captured footage on dash cam, to contact them.
Sergeant Paul Clark said: “This is a deeply tragic incident and our thoughts are with the young girl’s loved ones at this unimaginably difficult time.
“The circumstances are being investigated and we would ask people not to speculate on social media. I would also ask the privacy of the family is respected as they come to terms with what has happened.
“We’d like to appeal for any witnesses to this incident to please come forward, including anyone with dashcam footage which could help our investigation.
