A man whose sexual kink is knowing his partner is sleeping with other men has sparked backlash and angry commenters have called the couple ‘disgusting’
A couple has been called “disgusting” after their open relationship went viral. But despite the backlash they say it has only strengthened their belief that they’re living life the right way.
Jade and Josh Vow have been together for eight years and have spoken openly about their relationship – Jade sleeps with other men with Josh’s approval – who openly encourages the sexual kink.
Jade, who has 69.4k followers on Instagram under @littlepidge, said: “People got really mad, the comments were insane, but I expected it – especially from people on Facebook.” She added: “They have strong opinions, but we stick to one rule and that’s to not hurt anyone; otherwise, why do they care?”
Josh agreed and said: “Leave people to do what the f**k they like – the hate just doesn’t bother us.”
27-year-old Jade revealed no matter what they say or do, someone has an opinion. She stated: “We’re happy and not hurting anyone – I believe deep down that no one really hates what we’re doing – it’s just their online persona.”
Jade said she has a lot to thank the keyboard warriors for, however. She added: “They bring us a lot of views, so bring it on.” Josh had one suggestion for the critics. He added: “Come and spend the night with us and see if you still feel the same.”
Jade agreed and added if people got to know the real them as a couple for just five minutes, they’d realise something. She said: “People who meet us in person after judging us realise our relationship dynamic – we’re a normal couple who have a sexy hobby.”
The couple, who moved from Taunton, Somerset, to Cyprus three years ago, say they’re constantly battling the same misconceptions. Jade said: “People think we don’t really love one another.”
Josh added: “Or the big one – that I just want to sleep with girls and this is my excuse to do so – people jump to a lot of conclusions.”
Josh said “nine times out of ten” they’re all wrong. He added for the couples who love to spice up their sex life by adding multiple partners, there’s one major mix-up.
He added: “I don’t really have an interest in sleeping with other girls. I would, but I don’t; that’s not my thing – my main thing is seeing and hearing about Jade with guys. I like to see her express her sexuality.
“I also have a lot of people saying that I’m gay – I’m not – and Jade is bisexual.”
The couple have found a few supporters defending them in comments and were surprised at the lack of open-mindedness and understanding. Jade said: “I knew we were going to get hate, but I did think there would be a slightly larger percentage of people that would have the brains to think, ‘well they’re enjoying it, so who cares?”
Jade has admitted she’s a “sensitive soul” and told herself she wouldn’t read the comments, but couldn’t resist and within five minutes she had.
She said: “I found myself actually laughing for days – the craziest one was saying that people like us are the reason there needs to be a genocide… like what?! That’s so extreme.”
The loved-up pair have a theory though – one that will irritate the haters. Jade said: “I think people are bothered and threatened about what they don’t understand or what they wouldn’t be comfortable with personally. They don’t understand how a relationship could work like this – maybe they’re jealous.”
Josh believes people waste too much energy judging others. He stated: “I don’t understand why someone would spend £1000 on a Pokémon card – I wouldn’t do it – but it doesn’t make me angry.”
Jade agreed and said: “Even in our open relationship world, I don’t understand how people are in fully open relationships where they go off and date other people and fall in love – that’s crazy to me. I don’t understand it, but it doesn’t bother me.”
Jade and Josh have an understanding – Jade can find men or women she finds attractive online or in real life and after safety checks for work purposes – she can sleep with them without Josh.
Jade said: “He doesn’t need to be there either, he’s just happy hearing all about it afterwards. We’re together 24/7 with work and living together – apart from when I’m in bed with someone else.”
Despite their unconventional lifestyle, the pair never argues and struggles to pinpoint the last big blowout they had. The couple said: “We don’t argue about who we share a bed with, but we can annoy one another about having mushrooms on a pizza.”
Josh is happy with Jade enjoying a sex life with others but if a partner makes her a meal or makes her laugh, he’d feel hurt. He added: “We’re soulmates but that brings in a different connection I’m not comfortable with.”
