A woman who lied to her loved ones by using a doll to pretend she had given birth to a baby has called her ex’s family “stupid” for falling for her wild hoax.

Kira Cousins, 23, pulled the wool over the eyes of her friends and family leading them to believe she was pregnant. The fake mum-to-be even hosted a baby shower and paraded around a life-like baby doll pretending the child was her infant.

The mother hailing from Airdrie, Lanarkshire, even named the doll Bonnie-Leigh Joyce. The “mother” also shared snaps of her “new-born” doll on her social media where hundreds congratulated her on the delivery.

Kira Cousins who faked having a baby. She had a gender reveal party and used a reborn doll to dupe everyone. She then pretended it had died.

However Cousins’ ruse quickly fell apart after her mother found the doll in her room and one of Cousins’ mates posted the revelation online. The bombshell led to Cousins fleeing the house and retreating into hiding after the wild story went viral last October.

Now Cousins has broken her silence, blaming her close friends and family for believing her lies as she’s dubbed them as “stupid.” Pulling the lid back to The Sunday Mail Cousins admitted it was wrong to fake the birth of her child.

However she claimed her lies started after she suffered a miscarriage and was unable to tell her then-boyfriend. She also added that her then-boyfriend Jamie Gardner believed the doll was real. The former supermarket worker said: “I couldn’t tell him. I did lose a child. I’d tried to tell him when I first lost the child.

“I still have messages on my phone which said, ‘Jamie, we need to sit down,’ but I couldn’t speak to him about anything.”

She added: “I think there was a bit of fear and shock as well. I’d gone through that myself.

“Before all this, we had also fallen out, and it was really bad. He hadn’t wanted the baby at first, and I think that didn’t help. I can hold my hands up and say, ‘No, I shouldn’t have used a doll’, but at the same time, nobody knows what our relationship was like.”

“He had gone from that to, ‘Here we go, we are actually going to have it,’ and then to wanting it.”

Friends of Cousins previously stated she used AI to make footage of the doll look like it was moving. Cousins also revealed that Jamie took the doll to his parents‘ home alone to meet the “baby” and said: “Everyone in that house saw it and none of them twigged.”

She added those who believed her lies should have realised earlier the baby was actually a life-like doll. She said: “If they didn’t, they were stupid.”

Cousins said she was forced to tell Jaime the truth about the baby doll. The 23-year-old stated after the revelation Jamie “walked out” and stated “You’re a psycho”.

Cousins threw a gender reveal party for the baby doll

While she hasn’t seen the bloke since the two of them had the argument, Cousins stated they later spoke on the phone after the scandal erupted.

Cousins said: “When I first got back in contact with Jamie after this, one of the first things I asked him was if he really knew.”

She added: “No one was near that doll except me and Jamie. So if anyone should have known, it was Jamie.”

Jaime speaking to The Sunday Mail has stated he would have left the woman if he suspected his daughter was really a toy doll. The man also added that Cousins didn’t tell him about the hoax but he found out about lies from elsewhere.

Alongside this Jamie pushed back on claims Cousins ever attempted to tell him she had suffered a miscarriage. He said: “If I had ever known that was really a doll, I’d have run off sooner. I’ve not got a clue what really happened to be honest.”

He added: “I want to get as far away from her as possible. I just want to move on with my life.”
