Liverpool suffered a 3-2 defeat to Monaco with Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz on the score sheet for Andoni Iraola’s team
Liverpool will have mixed emotions yet again after their latest pre-season friendly defeat as they lost 3-2 to Monaco. Andoni Iraola took charge of the Reds in his first home fixture since replacing Arne Slot in the dugout earlier in the summer.
Alexander Isak opened the scoring for Liverpool before Florian Wirtz found the back of the net with a close-range finish in the first half.
Monaco then responded with a goal from the penalty spot from Aleksandr Golovin, before Mika Miereth equalised for the visitors shortly before the hour mark.
Liverpool now have a pre-season double-header against Como to complete their preparations for the new Premier League campaign, after which attention will turn to Newcastle United (A) on August 23.
Here, Daily Star Sport takes a look at the player ratings from Liverpool’s pre-season friendly with Monaco at Anfield.

Alisson – 6
Made a couple of good saves early on during his first appearance of pre-season, and could do nothing to stop the penalty from Golovin. Subbed at half-time.
Jeremie Frimpong – 6
Showed his pace early on and ability to get back into position at right-back, but lacked quality with his final pass. Could be a solid option on the counter-attack going forward for Liverpool.
Virgil van Dijk – 6
Gave away a penalty in the first half and almost found the back of the net with a header in the final moment of the first half.
Ifeanyi Ndukwe – 8
Made some early blocks and tackles, and won the ball back that led to the opening goal from Isak, and was subbed at half time. Has a bright future ahead with a loan move expected due to the defender not having a work permit to be able to feature for Liverpool.
Kostas Tsimikas – 5
Got caught out defensively on a couple of occasions, but never stopped trying throughout his first appearance for Liverpool in more than a year.
Ryan Gravenberch – 7
Ran the midfield before being subbed and played several key passes that started Liverpool’s attacking moves. Was back to his best, and the Reds will hope the Netherlands international carries that form into the Premier League season.
Dominik Szoboszlai – 6
Helped lead the midfield for Liverpool once again and played several impressive passes that led to chances in the first half.
Florian Wirtz – 8
Forced a good save and most of the good attacking play from Liverpool went through the Germany international. Was rewarded with a goal in the first half and could have had at least one more to his name.
Lewis Koumas – 6
Put in a lot of effort for Liverpool and was always an option on the right wing, just lacked the end product to provide the key pass or strike. Impressive performance from the Wales international.
Alexander Isak – 7
Good link-up play with Wirtz and a clinical finish to open the scoring, which the Sweden international will hope will be the first of many for the season ahead.
Cody Gakpo – 6
Was often an option on the left wing for Liverpool and had some good link-up play with Isak and Wirtz. Unlucky not to score with at least one header in the first half.
Subs: Giorgi Mamardashvili – 6
Subbed on for Alisson at half time and made a couple of decent saves to deny Monaco getting more goals. Could do nothing to stop the two he conceded.
Wataru Endo – 6
Stepped into the defence to replace Ndukwe at half time, but could not prevent the momentum that Monaco had in the second half. Made some key tackles to break up play in the defensive third.
