Cops arrested two men after a £12,000 worth of sex toys and women’s underwear were allegedly nabbed from a high street Ann Summers in Nottingham city centre
Two suspects were arrested just minutes after £12,000 worth of lingerie and sex toys were allegedly swiped from an Ann Summers store.
Police raced to the Long Row shop in Nottingham city centre after staff reviewed CCTV and spotted two people repeatedly entering and leaving during the night. Officers were dispatched at 4.35am on Friday, August 14, and arrested two men nearby just three minutes later.
A parked car was subsequently traced and searched, with police allegedly discovering a considerable haul of Ann Summers stock, including racy lingerie and sex toys, inside the boot. Jason Kamal, 48, and Ashley Hillsley, 20, were arrested and later charged in connection with the horny heist.
While in custody, Kamal was also linked to a separate burglary at a mobile phone repair shop in Arnold on July 28. Around £13,000 worth of electronic devices and other goods were reportedly taken.
Chief Inspector Kylie Davies, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Taking the city centre burglary first up, the officers responding to that call did a great job responding as quickly as they did.
“Within three minutes of being dispatched to this report, the response team in attendance had located two suspects and placed them in handcuffs.
“A substantial amount of stock was taken during this incident, so it was pleasing to be able to secure charges against two suspects.
“Approximately £25,000 worth of items were stolen in total, when you combine these two separate break-ins, which really outlines the impact commercial burglaries can have on businesses and why we treat reports of this nature so seriously.”
Kamal, of no fixed address, has been charged with two counts of burglary.
He was remanded in custody after appearing at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on August 15 and is due before Nottingham Crown Court on September 11.
Hillsley, of Big Barn Lane, Mansfield, has been charged with one count of burglary. He was conditionally bailed and is due before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on September 17.
