Fans could be hit with travel chaos after a major fire at a industrial estate near Wembley Stadium has caused serious travel distribution to transport links in the area
Travel fears have erupted after a major fire at an industrial estate has caused chaos by Wembley Stadium leading some tube lines to be partially or fully suspended.
Wembley Stadium and the nearby OVO Arena are expected to host two major events this weekend despite the blaze potentially causing chaos with attendees flocking to the spots for a weekend of entertainment.
All Elite Wrestling: All in London is set to be hosted inside Wembley Stadium on August 30 at 6:30pm on Sunday. And the Revolution Pro Wrestling: 14 Year Anniversary Show is to be hosted in the OVO Arena, next to the Wembley Stadium, on Saturday August 29.
The recent fire has triggered fears the area may be a spot of serious travel issues for fans looking to enjoy their weekend.
This morning emergency services rushed to the fire at an industrial estate in Neasden, just under a mile from the famous Wembley Stadium.
The blaze at the estate caused travel chaos as the entire Metropolitan line was suspended due to the fire.
TFL have stated: “No service on the entire line while we respond to a fire alert at Neasden.”
The Jubilee line has also been partially suspended. Currently there is no service between Willesden Green and Wembley Park on the line. There are also minor delays on the rest of the line.
TFL added: “No service between Willesden Green and Wembley Park and MINOR DELAYS on the rest of the line while we respond to a fire alert at Neasden. Tickets will be accepted on London Buses.”
London Fire Brigade have stated: “The fire is located at a mixed waste facility, and an industrial unit approximately 100m by 150m is currently alight. Three of the Brigade’s 32m ladders have been mobilised to the scene as part of our response, alongside the Brigade’s Drone Team.
“Firefighters have also deployed a hose laying unit and high volume pump to the scene. This will increase the amount of water available to firefighters as they work to bring the fire under control.” The cause of the devastating blaze remains unclear.
Hannah Close in Neasden, where the blaze erupted, is home to an industrial and logistics estate that sits directly alongside railway lines.
The estate holds numerous industrial units and distribution warehouses. Firefighters will remain at the scene of the blaze for the rest of the day, London Fire Brigade has said.
Assistant Commissioner Andy Pennick, who is leading the operation in Neasden, said: “This is a protracted incident that will see crews on scene for the remainder of the day as the work to fully extinguish the fire.
“I’d like to thank our firefighters for their hard work so far at this fire, and our Control Officers for managing a significant number of calls and coordinating or response.”
