New York Congressman Mike Lawler’s latest campaign ad is turning heads — but not because of his political message.
Instead, viewers couldn’t help but notice just how tight his clothes appear to be, as he roasted his Democratic opponent, Cait Conley.
The footage has sparked plenty of attention online, as Lawler’s increasingly snug attire became an unexpected talking point.
Amanda Litman, president of the Democratic PAC Run for Something, wrote: ‘Whoever produced this or let him film it in those clothes absolutely hates this man.’
Max Fisher, host of The Bigger Picture, was similarly baffled, writing: ‘Why are his clothes so tight? Why is every piece of clothing on Mike Lawler multiple sizes too small.’
The bizarre fashion commentary came as Lawler attempted to focus attention on one of his key campaign issues: the federal State and Local Tax, or SALT, deduction.

Trump jokes about Lawler’s persistence on the issue, saying: ‘I call him Mr. Salt. He didn’t stop. This guy was a pain in the a.’**
Lawler has made SALT a major issue as he seeks to retain his seat in Congress, particularly given the importance of the deduction to taxpayers in high-tax states such as New York.
The Republican also appeared on Fox Business on Friday morning, where he delivered another warning about the economic direction of the Empire State.
Lawler argued that New York’s high tax burden and the policies of Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul are making the state increasingly difficult for businesses.
He also took aim at Hochul’s pause on new hyperscale data centers, arguing that the move risks sending a damaging message to companies considering investing in New York.
According to Lawler, the message to businesses is effectively: don’t come here.
His appearance won praise from Trump, who later took to Truth Social to endorse the congressman.
‘Congressman Mike Lawler of New York was fantastic on Fox Business today,’ Trump wrote. ‘Important that we keep him in Congress. A total winner!!!’
Lawler’s race against Conley is expected to be one of the most competitive House districts in November.
