The US Open is well underway, and fans were given the unexpected sight of a nipple out in the open during the first week of play.

BBC Wimbledon pundit Genie Bouchard was among those taken aback by the incident, which happened in a first-round match at Flushing Meadows. Two-time champion Carlos Alcaraz made light work of Roman Safiullin in his opener, but there was a hairy moment for the Spaniard.

During the first set, Alcaraz let out a wild celebration after breaking Safiullin to go 4-3 up. As he did so, his t-shirt moved, leaving his nipple out on show and prompting a reaction from Bouchard.

“I kind of forgot what match day looks like,” the 23-year-old said. “I didn’t actually remember what I used to do in the warm-up. That’s why I was really nervous, because I just kind of forgot the competition.

“I was trying to enjoy it as much as I could, trying not to think about anything else. But it’s easy to say, difficult to do.”
