Life is sweet
I was delighted when my long term girlfriend left me for another man in February. Since then, I’ve slept with over 20 other girls.
I’ve been on two crazy holidays and drunk my body weight in lager. Life is sweet. Only now she’s talking about coming home and ‘sorting me out’.
She says it’s time for me to ‘face up to my responsibilities’ and have her and her three dogs back.
The other night her sister rang and started having a go at me. She accused me of being a big kid. She said that I need to ‘stop messing around’ and grow up.
Why should I?
JANE SAYS: You are an individual.
You’re fully entitled to live your life any way you see fit. I don’t agree with your ex’s sister getting on the phone and nagging you to have her back. That was heavy handed and inappropriate. Your relationship is no one else’s business. Insist on talking only to your ex in future in case there are compromises, apologies and changes that can be made.
My feeling is that the relationship ended for a very good reason back in February and that you both need to get on with new lives now.
That said, I don’t think that you should be sleeping around or drinking like a fool.
Consider your mental, sexual and physical health.
Picky eater
My boyfriend’s personal habits are disgusting.
He eats like a pig and never stops picking his ears, nose and feet. The throat clearing and snorting never stop and I want out.
He’s devastated; calling me small minded and ridiculous. He’s a nice bloke with decent prospects, but I’d rather live the rest of my life alone than listen to him chew. We’ve been together for two years and I’m screaming both inside and out. He says that he’ll change, but I don’t think he can.
JANE SAYS: You appear to have standards, which are perfectly reasonable, and a particularly low level of tolerance, whereas your guy is more relaxed and easy going.
He may say he can change, but I don’t think that either of you will ever feel comfortable or make the other truly happy. Every relationship needs give-and-take to survive. But your boyfriend’s habits and your standards sound so extreme that I don’t see how you’re ever going to meet in the middle.
End this relationship and walk away before you lose your head and your man losses any shred of confidence he has left.
I’m sure that you’ve got plenty of annoying habits of your own – we all have.
Hissy missy
My daughter is nearly 30 years of age.
Her marriage recently ended very badly.
She’s back, living at home, and driving me nuts. She’s more arrogant and demanding than ever.
She wants her new boyfriend to move and I’m not having it. She also tells me what food to buy and how to cook it. I can’t stand this.
JANE SAYS: If you don’t want your entitled daughter’s boyfriend; her grand plans or her food, then tell her no.
I suspect that you’re doing her a big favour by allowing her to come back home, so put your foot down while you’ve still got the authority. Is she paying any rent? She is clearly used to getting her own way, but she must be told that you’re in charge. When is she moving out?
