The Jurgen Klopp era of the German national team is officially underway. The former Liverpool boss took charge of his first game against the Netherlands on Thursday, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
A rejuvenated Klopp took a lengthy break away from football after leaving Anfield in May 2024, with the chance to lead his country too tempting to resist. The four-time world champions now have one of the best managers of his generation at their disposal and he’s certainly made his presence known after establishing strict rules.
Among the non-negotiables the 59-year-old has made clear is the significant restriction of family visits. The German players’ family and WAGs were allowed to be with their partners at all times during the World Cup this past summer, but no more under Klopp.
The wives and girlfriends will be banned from team hotels, only being permitted occasionally during major tournaments as Klopp continues to take control of how the national team players conduct themselves.
Germany are back in action on Sunday against Greece, with the Die Mannschaft stars likely to have considerable support from their partners in the stands. Daily Star Sport has a closer look at who could be at the WWK Arena in Augsburg.
