Mail on Sunday editor-at-large Charlotte Griffiths has speculated on Talk TV the real reason behind Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s UK return
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been establishing their lives anew in the UK following their recent homecoming. Royal enthusiasts have pondered why the Sussexes have chosen to secure a residence in Britain once again, but the genuine reason may now have emerged.
Speaking on Talk TV, Charlotte Griffiths, Mail on Sunday editor-at-large, suggests the pair are returning for a fresh Netflix agreement in which Prince Harry might produce a documentary about his mother, Princess Diana. She remarks: “It does explain, at long last, why they have come over to the UK. We have all been wondering and thinking it – it can’t just be the education of their kids, it can’t just be the King – there’s always with the Sussexes.”
She continues: “So this would make a lot of sense.”
On August 31, 1997, Princess Diana perished in a car accident in Paris. She was travelling with her then-partner, Dodi Fayed.
Dodi and the driver were killed instantly, while Diana, who was 36, was declared dead hours afterwards, reports the Express.
Next August, in 2027, will commemorate the 30-year anniversary of the devastating incident.
Prince Harry wishes to celebrate Diana’s legacy, “in the most meaningful way”, it is understood, and has allegedly already contacted numerous friends and family members about participating in a potential programme, including her brother, Earl Spencer. However, Earl Spencer has disclosed in his new memoir, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, that he intentionally opted to pen a book instead of featuring as what he termed a “talking head” in one of the numerous projects being planned about his sister.
The Earl expressed concern that documentaries could be influenced by a “flawed” agenda set by producers.
The Mirror suggests that Harry’s intentions for a personal documentary could potentially heighten tensions within the Royal Family.
Speculation surrounds the documentary. People Magazine reports that no documentary project has been finalised or confirmed as yet.
