Micah Richards was left speechless during CBS’ coverage of the Champions League on Tuesday evening after a brutal joke for Kate Scott. Richards was on the panel with Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher when Kate decided to poke fun at Manchester City’s guilty verdict.

City, earlier this month, were found guilty of breaking 114 of the Premier League’s financial rules – something which City deny and have launched an appeal. Punishments could range from points deductions to relegation or even stripping of titles.

And, for Richards, that could mean he is no longer a Premier League winner. Opening up CBS coverage, Kate said: “Welcome along to London, so good to have you with us!

“I’m Kate Scott, joined by a man who has won it all: the World Cup, the Euros, the Champions League, the Premier League, La Liga…Thierry Henry.

“Next to him is a Champions League winner, what was the UEFA Cup, now the Europa League, he won the FA Cup, the League Cup, Jamie Carragher.

“And then – well, this is awkward – he already has less accolades than anyone on set, for now he is still a Premier League and an FA Cup winner.

“That is until he has to mail those medals back to somebody at Stoke or Manchester United…what will he tell women then everybody?” Kate’s cheeky comments were almost drowned out by the laughter of Henry and Carragher.

A verdict, earlier this month, found that City had “arranged sham contracts” – which misrepresented the true agreement between the parties – with a number of its commercial partners, as well as relying on “sham” agreements with others, to artificially inflate the club’s revenues and reduce its costs over a nine-year period from 2009 to 2018.

A statement said: “The club filed misstated accounts and concealed the true state of its finances from its auditors and football regulators.”

They added throughout the investigation City “committed multiple breaches of its duties of co-operation and utmost good faith towards the league”.

City reject this and have launched an appeal: “Manchester City Football Club can confirm that at 7pm on Thursday 1st October 2026 the club lodged its comprehensive appeal against the opinion of the Premier League Commission, in relation to the Premier League disciplinary matter.

“The club’s firm position is that, on multiple grounds, the opinion contains clear material errors, of law, principle and fact and is unsafe. The club is innocent of the accusations made by the Premier League and a comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence exists in support of all of its positions, relating to this case.

“We will continue to respect due process and are necessarily restricted in what we can say further until all proceedings are complete.”
