Moment women are dragged out of The Bodyguard as police storm musical due to singing

Video has emerged online showing the moment police booted two women out of musical The Bodyguard as the crowd cheered on.

The disturbance happened during this Friday’s evening show when audience members were singing over the top of the performers at Palace Theatre in Manchester, Manchester Evening News reports.

The show was briefly paused when staff asked people to refrain from singing and they ended up calling the police 10 minutes before its finale.

One woman in red jacket holds onto the handrail and refuses to leave but seconds later two men walk in and grab her arms, dragging her out of the theatre.

Audience in the stalls cheer and clap their hands as they watch the duo being removed.

At least half a dozen police officers were reportedly in attendance and several police vehicles were seen parked outside the venue.

One person wrote on Twitter: “Cannot believe what I’ve just witnessed at the palace theatre watching the Bodyguard.

“A mini riot after the show was stopped because audience members were trying to sing over the cast. Police riot vans been called in. Chaos.”

The show was reportedly stopped during the rendition of “I Will Always Love You”.

One woman said: “There was a lot of heckling at Melody Thornton who was on the stage solo at this point.

“Her mic was cut and the curtain was brought down for the second time. A fight broke out in the upper stands as security tried to deal with members of the audience.”

Former Hollyoaks actor, Ayden Callaghan, who plays bodyguard Frank Farmer in the musical, spoke out after the incident and said “it’s not karaoke”.

He added: “Theatre pulled the show at the end tonight because of disgusting behaviour.

“We wanted to carry on but it had become a major incident. I’m really sorry to what was 99.9% a brilliant audience that a few badly behaved individuals ruined it.”
