White House Whines After Donald Trump Misses Out On Nobel Peace Prize

White House communications director Steven Cheung accused the Norwegian Nobel Committee of placing “politics over peace” with its decision not to name President Donald Trump as the winner of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize.
Instead, it awarded the prize to Venezuelan opposition activist María Corina Machado.
In a statement shared on X, formerly Twitter, Cheung claimed that Trump “will continue making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives.”

Trump “has the heart of a humanitarian,” he argued, adding that “there will never be anyone like him who can move mountains with the sheer force of his will.”
A HuffPost request for further comment on the snub received the Trump White House press office’s canned, partisan, out-of-office response it has been using to respond to enquiries since the government shutdown began last week.

It read: “Due to staff shortages resulting from the Democrat Shutdown, the typical 24/7 monitoring of this press inbox may experience delays. We ask for your patience as our staff work to field your requests in a timely manner. As you await a response, please remember this could have been avoided if the Democrats voted for the clean Continuing Resolution to keep the government open. The press office also cannot accommodate waves requests or escorts at this time. Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
Trump and his allies had lobbied hard for him to win the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his attempts at ending the Israel-Hamas war and other conflicts.
But the nomination process ended on Jan. 31 this year, shortly after Trump returned to the White House to begin his second term. Former President Barack Obama, however, did win the prize in 2009 following the same timeframe.
