Luke Littler offers hilarious response after avoiding final World Grand Prix embarrassment

Luke Littler gave a hilarious reaction after avoiding the ultimate World Grand Prix embarrassment.

‘The Nuke’ took on world No.1 Luke Humphries in the final of the World Grand Prix in Leicester as the two best players on planet darts clashed again.

With another major being on the line for both players, Littler didn’t show any nerves during the opening legs, despite being incredibly wasteful in the second leg of the match.

After going 1-0 up in the first leg of the final, Littler threw 12 darts at the double to start the leg, with the Grand Prix’s iconic double-in, double-out format frustrating the world champion.

Humphries almost brushed Littler, missing two darts at double eight to win the leg before ‘The Nuke’ could even get on the board.

Littler’s attempts to get his eye in worked

With the jeers of the fans behind him, Littler took to the oche to throw his 13th dart at the double, but hilariously poked fun at his own struggles as he drew a circle around the board with his finger before pulling a confused face.

And his bizarre technique clearly worked as he pinned D16 at the 13th time of asking, bringing ironic cheers from the crowd and putting a smile on his face.

Littler ultimately went on to lose the leg before he could return to the board again. But he soon brushed off avoiding the ultimate embarrassment and went on to win the first set.

‘The Nuke’ continued on his bid to win the World Grand Prix for the first time after being beaten by Rob Cross in round one last year, by taking a 2-0 lead in the first to six.

He then missed the bullseye to hit an incredibly rare Grand Prix nine-darter.

Littler booked his place in the final by beating Jonny Clayton 5-1. He previously knocked out Gerwyn Price, reigning champion Mike De Decker and Gian van Veen, who set a record-high World Grand Prix average of close to 107 despite losing 2-0.

Humphries meanwhile beat Danny Noppert 5-3 in the semi-final after knocking out Cameron Menzies, Krzysztof Ratajski and Nathan Aspinall in a more straightforward and dramaless run to the final.
