‘He appears to be like thrown in on the weights’ – Jason Heavey’s racing suggestions
The Daily Star Chief Tipster has napped a horse once trained for Aidan O’Brien who is now more than 20lb lower in the weights and competing in a much lower grade race
SIERRA BLANCA (3.50, nap) can cost the bookies a few quid at Leicester on Tuesday.
The five-year-old was a winner at Naas for the mighty Aidan O’Brien three years ago when he had an official rating of 101.
Now with Martyn Meade, the son of No Nay Never contests the Stevie Stretch Bookmaker 60 Today Handicap off a ledge of 79.
Sierra Blanca has lost his way a bit but his best run for Meade came on testing ground at Haydock a year ago when he was chinned by a neck.
He is 11lb lower in the weights this time compared with 2024 and is also down in grade.
With the ground in his favour, it seems a great opportunity for him to resume winning ways.
He was an eye-catching fifth at Windsor last month and his 15-2 price at the time of writing may not last.
The jumps card at Ffos Las should throw up plenty of future winners although finding ones on Tuesday is tricky as the racing is so competitive.
But course favourite BOSTON JOE (3.58, nb) has a big chance back over hurdles.
Three of his five victories have come at the Welsh track and he has an excellent record first time out, including winning on his seasonal bow in 2023 and 2024.
ROSSCAHILL (2.58, trb) has a unique running style with his rear left leg jutting out when he gallops but it did not stop him winning twice at the track over hurdles last season.
He makes his chasing debut in a handicap off a mark of 120 and he is already a point-to-point winner in testing ground.
KALKBRENNER (1.28) and STARZAND (1.58) are lovely prospects and if straight enough could win the two divisions of the 2m4f maiden hurdle.
BOLLIN NEIL (3.10) and BEERWAH (4.10) both look fairly solid bets at Catterick.
