Black gap letting out the ‘mild of a trillion suns’ fuels alien rumours

Scientists were baffled by a distant supermassive black hole, as it appeared to gobble up a star and glow brightly – but others believe black holes are the key to alien life

A supermassive blackhole in our solar system has let out the light of a trillion suns from the centre, a new study claims. According to scientists, the hole violently gobbled up an enormous star.

But alien enthusiasts believe this could be something far more extra terrestrial. The recent black hole flare, as the phenomenon is known, is thought to be the biggest and most distant ever recorded. Data shows that it was detected from 10 billion light-years away – unlike anything we have seen before.

Similarly, a mysterious flying object named 3I/ATLAS has been making its way through our solar system at record speeds, with some sleuths claiming the space matter from outside our solar system is in fact a visiting UFO.

Alien detectives have been having a field day recently, with the object hurtling through our solar system and now black holes are releasing bright lights.

By definition, a black hole is a region in spacetime where gravity is so strong that nothing, not even light, can escape. This happens because a large amount of matter has been squeezed into a tiny space.

However, boffins have noticed the blinding light of a trillion suns located in the middle of one – leaving them baffled. Matthew Graham, a research professor of astronomy at the California Institute of Technology and the lead author of the study, which was published on Tuesday in the journal Nature Astronomy, has commented on the rarity of this find.

He said: “This massive flare is just so much more energetic than anything we’ve ever seen before.” At its peak, the outburst was 30 times more luminous than any previous black hole flare seen to date, he added.

The strong outburst has been going on for more than seven years, Graham said, and is likely still occurring. The exact reason why the star was absorbed is not yet known – but he suspects a cosmic “bumper car” effect caused it to veer off the normal orbit.

However, previous theories have suggested that black holes might actually be a sign of alien life.

A paper published written by Shant Baghram in The Astrophysical Journal suggests that the more advanced a civilisation becomes, the greater their need for energy. And one of the most efficient ways, according to current theories, is to harness the energy from an actively feeding black hole.

They also suggest that alien life is more advanced then ours – and they are therefore able to travel further and explore other planets away from their host.

Some suggest black holes are in fact the host of alien life, with many watching the new illuminating power closely.
