Man drags lady in her 30s into Bournemouth woodland and rapes her as police launch manhunt for the attacker

A manhunt has been launched after a man dragged a woman into woodland before raping her. 

The search began after the victim, a woman in her 30s, was raped off Maxwell Road in Bournemouth, Dorset, on Wednesday evening.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said officers had received a report alleging the rape shortly after 9.15pm.

They added that a detailed investigation was being carried out by detectives to establish the full circumstances of the attack.

An increased police presence will be noticeable in the area and the victim is being supported by specialist officers, the force confirmed. 

A cordon has been set up at Winton Recreation Ground as police investigate the reported rape.

Officers remain at the park as they continue to carry out inquiries.

They have urged anyone with information or concerns to speak with an officer.

The spokesperson said: ‘We received a report at 9.18pm on Wednesday, November 5, that a man had raped a woman aged in her 30s in a wooded area in the Maxwell Road area in Bournemouth.

‘A detailed investigation into the report is being carried out by detectives to establish the full circumstances and specialist officers are supporting the victim.

‘A cordon has been put in place to allow for an examination of the area to be carried out.

‘There will be an increased police presence in the area and we would encourage anyone with information or concerns to please speak with an officer.’
