‘Monster’ paedo who raped children confirmed victims sick cartoons of sexual abuse

Connor Wright, 31, was arrested after police raided his home and found videos he had filmed of himself sexually abusing children, with his tattoo clearly visible in the footage

A man who filmed sickening videos of himself subjecting children to sexual abuse has been handed an extended prison sentence. Connor Wright, 31, from Middlesbrough was arrested after police stormed his home and discovered the material, with his tattoo clearly visible in the footage, a court heard.

Last week, Teesside Crown Court heard that Wright attempted to “normalise” his horrific abuse by showing victims cartoon characters involved in sexual acts. He warned one child he had raped that they would “go to prison” if they told anyone, insisting what was happening “was their secret”.

Wright admitted to 25 child sex offences at an earlier hearing, including child rape, voyeurism – for filming a naked child – and causing a child to engage in sexual activity with him. The detective constable described the case as “extremely distressing”.

Prosecutor Shaun Dodds detailed the charges one by one as Wright watched via video link from Holme House prison, according to TeessideLive. Mr Dodds revealed that upon inspecting Wright’s mobile phone, hard drive and computer tower, police found indecent images of children and 138 prohibited images of children, which were cartoons depicting popular children’s characters engaged in sexual activity with each other.

The police then unearthed videos showing Wright sexually abusing children.

The mother of one of Wright’s victims spoke in court to describe the nightmares her child now suffers and the harm he has done to his young victim. Weeping, the mum told Wright: “You’re a monster.”

In mitigation, Tom Bennett said that Wright admitted to his probation officer that his “behaviour is unforgivable” but that he “is not 100% clear” as to why he committed the offences. “He’s almost grateful – probation say – that he was caught,” Mr Bennett told the court, “because he’s caused so much damage. He is genuinely remorseful.”

Judge Joanne Kidd told Wright that he had used “computer-generated images to normalise the sexual abuse” for his victims. “Your manipulation of these children was premeditated,” she said.

“I shudder to think how much longer this abuse would have gone on for” had the police not received intelligence as to what was happening. “Wright, of York Road in central Middlesbrough, was handed an extended sentence of 23 years – 18 years in prison plus five years on extended licence in the community.

He will serve two-thirds of the 18 years before the parole board can consider his release.A restraining order was imposed, preventing Wright from contacting any of the victims.

He will remain on the sex offenders’ register for the rest of his life. After the sentencing, Detective Constable Victoria Brown said: “Wright committed some of the most vile crimes imaginable and caused an immeasurable amount of trauma to his young and vulnerable victims.

“”He targeted the children in pursuit of his own twisted sexual gratification, without any consideration for the impact his actions would have on them and I’m pleased that he has today been given a significant prison sentence.

“This was an extremely distressing case but the joint work from our Child Abuse and Vulnerable Adults Team, Digital Forensic Unit, and our Paedophile Online Investigation Team was instrumental in helping us bring Wright before the courts and get justice for his victims and their families.
