Ryanair passengers urged to do one factor forward of main change

European airline Ryanair has announced a major change to how passengers are able to board their flights from next week and Brits have been told to make sure they are prepared

Ryanair has revealed that passengers will experience a shift in their boarding process, commencing from next week.

The airline announced on its Corporate Website that it will move to exclusively digital boarding passes. From November 12, which is a Wednesday, it has been confirmed that travellers flying with the carrier will no longer have the option to download or print paper boarding passes.

Instead, they will need to utilise the digital boarding pass accessible through the “myRyanair” app during check-in to board their aircraft. Many passengers already rely on a digital pass for travel, with Europe’s largest airline noting that the change is “already adopted by nearly 80% of Ryanair’s 207M+ annual passengers.”

Ryanair’s Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) endorsed the alteration and stated it would provide a superior and more efficient experience.

Dara Brady, CMO, reminded travellers: “We are now just a little less than a week out from our move to 100% digital boarding passes, meaning that from Wednesday, 12 November, passengers will no longer be able to download and print a physical paper boarding pass but will instead need to use the digital boarding pass generated in their “myRyanair” app during check-in to board their Ryanair flight.

“While over 80% of passengers already use digital boarding passes, and therefore won’t be affected by this progressive change, we remind the small number of passengers who still print boarding passes to download the myRyanair app ahead of the move to 100% digital boarding passes from Wednesday, 12 November.”

He further stated: “Moving fully digital means a faster, smarter, and greener experience for passengers, whilst also providing easier access to a range of innovative in-app features.”

This announcement comes as the Foreign Office has issued a travel insurance warning for those planning to visit Italy in early 2026. As previously reported, the latest update includes new information about the upcoming Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games.

Scheduled to take place in Italy from February 6 to 22 and March 6 to 15, the website advises travellers: “If you choose to travel, research your destinations and get appropriate travel insurance. Insurance should cover your itinerary, planned activities and expenses in an emergency.”
