TikTok star accused of working over pedestrian whereas livestreaming begs public for donations
A TikToker has sparked fury after allegedly mowing down a pedestrian while livestreaming behind the wheel, then shamelessly begging followers for donations just days later
A TikToker has sparked outrage after allegedly hitting and killing a pedestrian while live streaming behind the wheel. She then shamelessly proceeded to ask followers for donations.
Influencer Tea Tyme, whose real name is Ty Nesha, was driving while livestreaming to her TikTok followers when a sudden, sickening thud interrupted her broadcast, prompting her to scream, “F–k, f–k, f–k … I just hit somebody.”
According to footage of the stream, which has since been reshared and circulated on social media, a child who appeared to be in the car with the 43-year-old could be heard repeatedly asking, “What was that?” before the livestream abruptly cut off.
Police say Darren Lucas, a 59-year-old man, was struck in a crosswalk by a woman driving a 2015 Ford Edge, who called 911 and stayed at the scene to speak with investigators. The incident happened in Zion, in the north of Chicago, USA.
Lucas, who worked at a nearby shop, was later pronounced dead from blunt force injuries, the New York Post reported. Zion Police Lt. Paul Kehrli said drugs and alcohol were not suspected in the crash, and told the Guardian that “no charges have been approved at this time”, though authorities consider Nesha’s video of her streaming relevant to the investigation.
As Lucas’s grieving family mourns, with his son-in-law Chris King called him “a great friend” and the “nicest guy I’ve known”, Nesha returned to social media just three days after the fatal incident with a questionable request. She was reportedly seen telling viewers: “My CashApp up there if y’all wanna support while I’m on mental leave.”
She also said: “You know I don’t like asking y’all for s–t, but if y’all … find it in y’all’s heart and y’all wanna support, my CashApp is right there.” She added: “If y’all wanna pour something in, y’all are more than welcome to do that.”
Nesha reportedly assured her followers: “I will be OK. I am taking things one day at a time.
“I’m good, you guys.” She then reportedly promoted her “new album series coming out.” Outrage erupted online as a person commented under a clip of the livestream that was reshared on TikTok: “People really do not take driving a vehicle seriously enough.”
A TikTok user added: “No the most traumatising part is a man is dead! His family has to deal with him getting hit by someone focused on their TikTok.”
Someone else penned: “She doesn’t sound concerned.” A netizen shared: “The MOST TRAUMATISING part is the person she killed not her kids !!!!!”
A separate individual chimed in: “With children in the car! that messed me up.”
