An elderly motorist has tragically lost his life after a horror collision, involving a black Lamborghini and a Vauxhall Viva, after sustaining fatal injuries that saw him declared dead at the scene

A motorist has tragically lost their life in a devastating town centre car collision involving a Lamborghini .

Emergency crews – including an air ambulance – rushed to Sandbach yesterday morning (November 13) after receiving reports of a crash involving a black Lamborghini and a Vauxhall Viva.

Cheshire Police have now confirmed that the driver of the red Vauxhall, a gentleman in his 80s, sustained fatal injuries and was tragically declared dead at the scene.

The man’s family have been notified and are receiving ongoing support from specialist officers.

Crash investigation experts have been brought in, with an inquiry into the circumstances now in progress, reports Cheshire Live.

Sergeant Russell Sime stated: “We are currently conducting an investigation into the full circumstances of this sad incident and as part of our enquiries, we would like to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police.

“The same goes for anyone with any relevant dashcam or CCTV footage of what happened. Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the man who has sadly died.”

Crewe Road remained closed from the Old Mill Road roundabout down to Park Lane for several hours yesterday.

Witnesses are asked to call the police on 101 and quote IML 2213883.

The incident comes just days after a man who died alongside his passenger in a horror smash on the M1.

Umar Akbar has been locally identified as one of two people who tragically lost their lives in a devastating collision with a tree whilst driving a BMW on the motorway.

South Yorkshire Police responded to reports on the M1 southbound between Junction 37 for Barnsley and Junction 36 at Tankersley at 11.36pm on Wednesday, November 12.

At the scene, a dark coloured BMW Saloon had been travelling along the motorway when it veered off the carriageway and smashed into a tree.

Both Umar and his female passenger – whose identity has not yet been released – died despite paramedics’ best efforts.
