‘Betrayal’: Nicolle Wallace Slams Trump For Breaking Key Promise To His Own Supporters

MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace called out President Donald Trump and his administration for fighting to block the release of more files related to late convicted sex offender and former Trump friend Jeffrey Epstein.
“In exactly 12 months, Donald Trump has gone from completely dominating the political moment to being buried by it,” she said. “Donald Trump today finding himself on the defensive when it comes to his administration’s betrayal of a campaign pledge to release the Epstein files.”

The Epstein files were a persistent issue on the 2024 campaign trail, with Trump and his allies ― especially Vice President JD Vance ― vowing to release them.
Once in office, however, they made a show of releasing files that had already been released to a group of right-wing influencers.
Attorney General Pam Bondi at one point said the infamous Epstein “client list’ was on her desk, awaiting her review before being released. By summer, she said there was no such list and no more files to reveal, angering many on both sides of the aisle.

But Wallace said the Trump administration may not be able to block it much longer, saying there is now “unstoppable momentum” in Congress that could force the release starting with a vote in the House set for next week.
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) urged his colleagues to buck the White House and support the release.
“I would remind my colleagues that this vote is gonna be on your record for longer than Trump is going to be president,” he said in a clip Wallace played. “And what are you going to do in 2028 and 2030 when you’re in a debate, either with a Republican or a Democrat, and they say, ‘How can we trust you? You covered up for a pedophile back in 2025.’”
Wallace said all this is leading toward a “major political reckoning” for the president.
