Blokes in kilts are more than likely to tug – as a result of they ‘ooze confidence’

A poll of 2,000 were asked which item of clothing on a man made them go weak at the knees and kilts won out – followed by tuxedos and speedos

Blokes wearing a kilt are the most likely to pull, a study has revealed.

The tartan knee-length men’s skirt, first recorded in the 16th century in the Scottish Highlands, even trumped a flash tux to catch women’s attention. Famous kilt wearers include tennis ace Sir Andy Murray, former 007 Sir Sean Connery, actor David Hasselhoff, and Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey.

In World War One, the Germans called Scottish soldiers – who were not allowed to wear underpants under their kilts – ‘Ladies from Hell’. But one dating expert believes men in kilts just “ooze confidence – and a bit of mystery”.

Sandra Christie, 28, of Edinburgh, said she couldn’t resist a bloke in a kilt.

She said: “Whenever I go to a wedding, Burns Night or cèilidh I am always drawn to men wearing kilts. I don’t know what it is about them, but they give off an air of manliness and strength.”

The beauty therapist added: “I met my boyfriend at a wedding last year – there were about 15 men wearing kilts, so I had my choice, but I chose him because of his big smile…and his kilt, of course.”

Alastair Brogan, 45, of Bushey, Herts, said he was born in Aberdeen, but moved to Hertfordshire when he was 20.

He said he loved wearing his kilt, saying he always got ‘loads of attention’ from women – and blokes who tried to pull up his kilt to see if he was a ‘real Scotsman’, who goes commando.

The electrical contractor said: “Women seem drawn to a kilt, which is great for me, but it’s not so great when people – usually men – lift up my kilt to see if I’m a real Scotsman.

“They’re usually disappointed, because I never go commando.”

Dating expert Sylvia Linzalone, of Wisp, said: “A man in a kilt just oozes confidence – and a bit of mystery.

“It’s cheeky, bold and says ‘I’ve got nothing to hide… literally.’

“There’s something about seeing a man ditch the usual jeans or suit and rock a bit of tartan that gets hearts racing.

It’s playful, a bit dangerous, and let’s be honest – everyone’s secretly wondering what’s underneath. The kilt’s got sex appeal stitched into every pleat.”

A poll of 2,000 women by dating app Wisp, asked to choose the item of clothing most likely to make them go ‘weak at the knees’, were as follows;
