Stunned University Challenge viewers were left asking ‘can someone check he’s still alive?!’ after a contestant ‘passed out’ during the show.
On Monday night, fans of the BBC quiz show watched Southampton and Imperial face off for a quarter-final spot.
However, the audience was soon distracted by Keung, a member of the Imperial team.
As presenter Amol Rajan asked an astrophysics question, the contestant placed his head down on the team’s table.
One viewer wrote on X: ‘Has something happened to Keung someone check he’s still alive there.’
Another added: ‘Keung was just recharging a few minutes back.’

A third shared: ‘Someone give Keung a prod #universitychallenge.’
While a fourth echoed: ‘I’m amazed Keung had time for that power nap, given how much is at stake.’
Keung remained in this position for about 20 seconds, rising just as Amol finished posing the second of three questions.
Meanwhile, Imperial ultimately emerged as the episode’s victors, with 190 points to Southampton’s 180.
This prompted one viewer to remark online: ‘Keung has woken up for the win.’
Another similarly wrote: ‘Keung has woken up then.’
It comes as fans previously jeered that a contestant ‘wanted to go home’ after he made no effort to conceal his boredom.
Just minutes into the show, fans claimed one of the contestants, from the Strathclyde team, had ‘checked out’ after their group started off on the back foot.
In the first round, they were being continually out-buzzed by Sheffield University, who had managed to win 65 points, while Strathclyde remained on 0.
Imperial ultimately emerged victorious by the end of the episode
Team captain Jack Stirling, who introduced himself as a student of chemical engineering, had his head in his hands and appeared ‘bored’.
One viewer penned: ‘The captain Stirling on the Strathclyde team looks very bored. He is just resting the face on his hand.’
A second chimed in: ‘Stirling has switched off and just wants to go home,’ as a third agreed: ‘Sterling has checked out…’
A fourth wrote: ‘Stirling looks as bored as bored can be,’ as a fifth commented: ‘Stirling looks super bored I mean they are getting mashed but still.’
‘Poor Stirling’s mood reflects the score,’ a sixth concluded.
University Challenge airs Mondays on BBC Two and is available to stream on iPlayer.
