Arne Slot points clear message on Liverpool sack stress after PSV humiliation

Arne Slot was defiant about his Liverpool position as the pressure mounts on his job.

Liverpool suffered their latest embarrassment at the hands of PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday as the Dutch side won 4-1 at Anfield.

This most recent defeat is the Reds’ ninth defeat in the last 12 games and the third game in a row Liverpool have lost by a three-goal deficit.

Pressure is building on Slot as Liverpool sit 12th in the Premier League after twice breaking the British transfer record and spending over £400million in the summer window.

Speaking in Thursday’s press conference, Slot explained his latest conversation with sporting director Richard Hughes following the Champions League humiliation. “We had the same conversation since I’ve been here,” he said.

“I’m not sure if I said last night, but we fight on try to improve. The conversations have been the same as for the past one and a half years”

Asked if he felt let down by his players, Slot responded: “No, not at all. Although I do agree with you that out standards have not been up to the standards that we’re used to and we want. But last year when we did really well there was a focus on certain individuals, but I’ve always said it’s about the group.”

He vowed to “keep fighting, no matter how difficult it is, we need to fight together”.
