Video captures huge brawl erupting at a college
Security barriers were hurled and students knocked to the ground during a massive brawl at a college in Greater Manchester. The violence unfolded at Stockport College earlier today (November 27), with mobile phone footage showing boys kicking and punching each other as security guards struggled to keep a lid on the scrap.
The fight, initially between two boys, started inside a building and then spilled out onto a concourse. One student can be heard repeatedly screaming “oh my god” as staff, some in hi-vis jackets, tried to break up the warring teenagers.
The clips shows one member of staff helping a youth who had been knocked to the ground while the fighting continues around him. Other students hurdled security barriers to join the melee, the Manchester Evening News reports.
Initial reports stated that a person was stabbed, but college officials and Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said no weapons were involved. One concerned parent said her 15-year-old son had been left in shock after witnessing the brawl.
She said. “It’s pretty scary,” she said. “It was two boys fighting and then their friends got involved.” She said the college was placed ‘on lockdown’.
Another source added: “It started with two boys fighting and then others joined in and it became a huge problem.”
Carmen Gonzalez-Eslava, principal of the Trafford and Stockport College Group, said in a statement: “We have dealt with an incident at Stockport College today involving a very small number of students.
“The situation was managed swiftly and effectively, and all of our processes were followed to ensure the safety and wellbeing of every learner. Their welfare remains our number one priority. Timetabled classes are continuing as normal and the campus is fully operational.”
A spokeswoman for GMPconfirmed officers were called to a fight between a group of people at the college on Stockport Road South, Stockport.
