BREAKING Stockport purchasing centre in lockdown as police and air ambulance swarm space

A shopping centre in Stockport has been cordoned off by police due to an unfolding incident.
Pictures from the scene at Merseyway shopping centre in Stockport town centre depict police officers standing watch at one of the entrances. It’s believed that police officers are also present inside the shopping centre, while an air ambulance landed nearby.
An entrance has been blocked off with police tape, and a police car can be seen at the location, reports the Manchester Evening News. A statement from Merseyway Shopping Centre reads: “Our covered mall is currently closed. We hope to be able to reopen it soon. Please keep an eye on our social channels for further updates. We’d like to thank all our customers for their understanding and patience.”
There are reports of a medical emergency inside the precinct. However, it seems the shopping centre has now reopened.
The bustling shopping precinct houses approximately 90 shops, encompassing both high street brands and independent retailers.
