Bloke invitations cops to ‘come again with a warrant’ earlier than embarrassing arrest

Cops suspected Musick of fraud and satisfied his doormat’s request by coming back with a warrant to arrested him on suspicion of nicking more than $100,000 by posing as a real estate investor

A fraudster was mocked by cops who arrested him after they turned up at his door – and found a doormat that read “come back with a warrant.”

Christopher Musick, 57, is accused of posing a real estate investor to steal more than $100,000, police in the US said. The Volusia Sherrif’s Office shared a photo of his rug with the caption: “We came back with a warrant.”

Musick, of Daytona Beach Florida, was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the large-scale fraud probe. Police said he created fake documents to pose as the owner of multiple business properties before taking mortgages against them.

The force wrote on Facebook: “Fraud detectives recently arrested fake real estate investor Christopher Musick, 57, Daytona Beach, in a large-scale mortgage fraud scheme in Volusia County.

“Musick would create fake documents to pose as the owner of multiple business properties. Then he’d get mortgages against those properties, use the money to buy more of them, rent them out, pocket the money, and never pay off his loans.

“Musick is now in custody on charges of organized scheme to defraud, grand theft over $100,000, and forgery. His bond is $225,000. He also has 10 prior felony convictions and 2 outstanding warrants out of Maryland.

“After interviewing Musick, VSO Financial Crimes Unit detectives established probable cause to execute a search warrant at his residence, thereby satisfying the doormat’s request.”

Social media users saw the funny side. One wag quipped: “Poor choice in door mats.” Another said: Well he did say ‘come back with a warrant’ lol”. A third joked: “You might be a criminal if your doormat says…”

The case is part of a long line of unusual incidents reported in Florida, a state known for its eccentric criminal news stories.

In early November, one man known among locals as “Farmer Pete” was arrested after he allegedly opened fire on a trio of twenty-somethings during a debate over how many eggs a chicken can lay.

In October, one repeat offender was arrested on drug possession charges, but authorities discovered he also had a thermos concealed in his rectum, which had to be surgically removed.

Also that month, a topless man attacked a number of people with a metal shelf during a wild brawl inside a Miami supermarket.
