Watch hilarious second Newcastle striker Nick Woltemade is requested if he is ‘met any females’ on Tyneside
Newcastle United striker Nick Woltemade burst into laughter and gave a very coy response to a question about his love life on Tyneside.
The 23-year-old was speaking in a press conference ahead of his return to Germany for the Magpies’ clash with Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
He left the country for the Premier League some four months ago in a £69million deal from Stuttgart and has made a flying start on the pitch in the north-east, scoring eight and providing one assist in all competitions.
But how is the forward settling into life on Tyneside, where he lives in an apartment with his best friend from back home?
‘I don’t know why everyone is talking about this (Woltemade living with his friend),’ he told reporters. ‘I think it’s normal when you come to a new country.
‘Of course, I’m alone so I ask my best friend, “Do you want to come with me to Newcastle?” I don’t know how you call it in English, when you’re living with your best friend.’

Woltemade was then asked whether he’s met ‘anyone special’ in his new home-city yet. Bursting into laughter, the German replied: ‘No, I have a lot of games so I haven’t met anyone.’
Newcastle head into the clash in Leverkusen in fifteenth position in the Champions League group phase after winning three and losing two of their opening five games.
They face a Leverkusen side struggling domestically, who sit some 15 points off the top of the Bundesliga in fourth place.
However Eddie Howe was full of praise for the German side, who parted ways with former Man United boss Erik Ten Hag earlier this season, in his pre-match press conference.
‘However we get through, the knockout phase is our target,’ Howe said. ‘It would be preferable to go through without a play-off, but the teams we have to face are in good form.
‘I am relatively pleased with our Champions League performance. In the two defeats we have not come away with what we deserved. Bayer Leverkusen are an outstanding team, true to their identity, so this will be a tough game.
‘Our main issue in recent weeks has been defending set plays, but that’s nothing we can’t fix. There are things that come up through the season you have to suddenly focus.’
The former Bournemouth manager also offered a fitness update on new recruit Yoane Wissa, who made his debut for the club in their 2-1 win at St James’s Park over Burnley on the weekend.

New Magpies recruit Yoane Wissa made his debut for the club on the weekend after missing weeks with injury
‘I think he’s done a lot of work to get to this point,’ Howe said of the winger. ‘He’s got a lot more work to do to get to the very best level that he can. Yeah, very pleased to have him available. We hope to keep him available by managing him correctly.
‘I think once Yoane gets up to full speed, I’d say he’s probably a little bit short of that at the moment, being able to start again, but we’ll make that decision game by game.’
After the Champions League fixture, the Magpies face a trip to Sunderland for the highly-anticipated Tyne-Wear derby.
