Child killer Lucy Letby will get pleasure from slap-up jail Christmas dinner, bingo and karaoke
EXCLUSIVE: As infamous child killer nurse spends Christmas behind bars, Daily Star Sunday can reveal just how cushy her festive plans will be as she celebrates with other lags
Child killer Lucy Letby will sit down to a slap-up Christmas dinner alongside murderers and terrorists inside the UK’s most dangerous female prison, The Daily Star Sunday can reveal. Letby, 35, is serving a whole-life term inside HMP Bronzefield in Surrey for killing seven babies while working as a nurse, and attempting to murder eight more.
She and other child killers, such as Constance Martens and Beinash Batool, will also take part in Christmas sing-alongs, Karaoke, and playing bingo, while opening presents sent in by families and friends. We can reveal that on Christmas Day, Letby will be offered a choice from a menu including: vegan mushroom wellington, vegetable wellington, halal chicken leg, a gammon and stuffing baguette or turkey with sausages wrapped in bacon.
All the mains come with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, parsnips, carrots, sprouts, stuffing and gravy. Afterwards, Letby can have a choice of Christmas Pudding, Yule log or ice cream.
The festive cheer continues inside the top security women’s prison on Boxing Day with a menu consisting of spicy bean burger, veggie nugget wrap, halal beef burger, chicken burger, hot dog, curly fries, baked beans, followed by jam and scones or fruit. A similar special menu is available on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
In addition to a Christmas meal, inmates in Bronzefield are also allowed to decorate their cells and wings. Letby is currently being held in the prison’s enhanced unit 4, where she has an en-suite cell, a TV, and access to video games.
One source said: “The atmosphere changes quite a bit at Christmas in Bronzefield. Most of the prisoners are missing their families so everyone wants to have a nice a time as possible, including the staff who bring stuff in so cells can be decorated.”
Letby and Batool, who was thrown into prison after the horror murder of her 10-year-old stepdaughter Sara Sharif, are said to have formed a friendship while locked up. Insiders have reported that the pair have formed a friendship.
But despite Letby’s horrendous crimes, she has been accepted into Bronzefield as just another prisoner. One ex-prisoner who was recently released from Bronzefield said: “There is a real sisterhood inside Bronzefield.
“Everyone knows about Lucy’s crimes, and she had a tough time when she first arrived, but now a lot of inmates accept her as just another prisoner. She doesn’t constantly complain about being framed or set up, but she will talk to you about what has happened to her.
”A lot of inmates will go to her if they have some sort of medical issue but Lucy will say they must go to the prison medical centre if they have a health problem. Some inmates don’t trust the prison staff but Lucy encourages them to seek proper medical care.”
It comes as she remains on high alert for a potential incident in prison after it was revealed by a prison expert that she could “meet a tragic end” in jail. Her supporters are starting to rise in number after it was revealed she was appealing some of her convictions based on poor evidence.
