Woman subjected to ‘critical sexual assault’ in port metropolis – as police launch hunt to search out suspect

Police are hunting down a man who subjected a woman to ‘serious sexual assault’ in a British port city.

Devon and Cornwall Police were called to the Mutley Plain area of Plymouth at around 4am on Saturday morning following a report of a woman being sexually assaulted.

The suspect is described as a 5ft 6-8ins tall white man with ‘blondish’ hair.

While enquiries are ongoing to locate him, the force confirmed the victim is being ‘supported by specially trained officers’.

‘We are carrying out door to door enquiries in the area, and a scene guard is currently in place on Furzehill Road,’ a statement from Devon and Cornwall Police said.

‘Residents can expect to see an increased police presence today and this evening,’ a spokesman for the force added.

‘We are asking anybody in the area who noticed anything suspicious, or who may have relevant home footage to get in touch via 101 or our website quoting log 116 of 10 January.’
