talkSPORT presenter Alan Brazil fell ill during Thursday’s breakfast show, and the 66-year-old has now missed Friday’s broadcast with an update issued
A health update has been issued after Alan Brazil was forced off air after falling ill on Thursday’s breakfast show. Brazil is reportedly ‘doing well’ after he left the show due to a bout of dizziness.
Shebahn Aherne, who stepped in for Brazil, 66, provided an update after he also missed Friday’s broadcast. Listeners were left worried when the ex-Scotland international didn’t return to his presenting duties following a break in Thursday’s programme.
Gabby Agbonlahor had to inform listeners that Brazil was ‘feeling a bit poorly’. Katie Shanahan was brought in to host the remainder of the show. Brazil has now been absent for a second day, with Aherne joined by Arsenal legend Ray Parlour for the 6am slot.

However, the 66 year old is expected to be back on air next Wednesday.
At the start of the show, Aherne said: “Poor Al, he took the dizzies yesterday,” prompting Parlour to quip: “Too many bourbons, I heard,” reports the Mirror.
Aherne responded: “Yeah, too much sugar! Is it true that he spent the rest of the show – while Katie did the show – lying on the couch? Apparently he did.”
Parlour added: “I hope he’s alright, Alan. He was getting dizzy last week when I was here. The lights are making him go dizzy, so if we go dizzy later and say, ‘Oh we don’t feel too good’ then turn the lights down for god’s sake.”
Aherne then comforted listeners by stating: “We are sending our love to Al, he is absolutely fine, he’s doing well.”
talkSPORT released a statement on Thursday, stating: “Alan Brazil was feeling unwell during today’s talkSPORT Breakfast show and came off air after 8am.
“Gabby Agbonlahor and Katie Shanahan presented the remainder of the programme. Alan is doing OK, and will be back on talkSPORT shortly. We wish him a speedy recovery.”
The former forward kicked off his football career at Ipswich Town in 1976, before moving on to play for Tottenham and Manchester United in the 1980s.
He also earned 13 caps for Scotland, proudly representing his nation at the 1982 World Cup.
After battling with persistent back issues, Brazil called time on his professional football career at just 27, although he didn’t officially retire until 1991 after playing for several lower league clubs.
Since talkSPORT’s inception in 2000, he’s been the voice of the breakfast show. Six years ago, Brazil reduced his working hours and now primarily hosts on Thursdays and Fridays.
He is the father of three daughters – Lucy, Stephanie, and Michelle.
