‘Dorito’-shaped UFO and eerie ‘snacks’ radio chatters caught over Area 51

Eerie military radio chatter featuring phrases like ‘pretzel snack’ and ‘Imperial with garlic’ has been intercepted near Area 51, just as a British backpacker claims to have filmed a mysterious triangle shaped ‘Dorito’ UFO

Bizarre military radio chatter mentioning everything from “pretzel snacks” to “Imperial with garlic” has been picked up near top-secret Area 51. The eerie discovery has consequently fuelled fresh speculation over mysterious triangle-shaped UFOs, as one was captured by a British backpacker.

While experts believe the so-called “Dorito” craft is likely manmade, the National UFO Reporting Center has logged a surge in sightings of similar triangular objects across the world, including in the UK.

The British backpacker and videographer claims to have caught the mysterious, UFO-shaped aircraft flying over the US’ top-secret Area 51 military base. Anders Otteson, who describes himself as an “off-the-grid explorer”, was documenting his journey through the Nevada desert on January 14.

That’s when he reportedly spotted the unidentified craft overhead at around 3am local time. Earlier that night, Otteson had witnessed what appeared to be a B-2 Spirit stealth bomber flying above Area 51.

However, the second aircraft, he said, was shaped more like an “equilateral triangle”, the type UFO enthusiasts have dubbed the “Dorito”, the Daily Mail reported. Adding to the intrigue, a fellow UFO researcher, Joerg Arnu, picked up bizarre radio chatter on a scanner tuned to Area 51’s unencrypted frequencies.

Instead of standard military lingo, personnel were heard using code words such as “pretzel snack”, “corona pretzel snacks zero with cheese”, “profile Michelob”, “Imperial with garlic”, and “fridge hydrate”. Otteson said this is not the first time the mysterious craft has been sighted over the US.

He said: “Twice in 2014, photographers caught the same Dorito-shaped object on camera, revealing that the craft looked nothing like the US military’s current stealth bomber planes or known drones.” Area 51 has long been associated with the development and testing of cutting-edge aircraft, including the F-117 Nighthawk, America’s original stealth bomber.

Otteson reportedly believes his latest sighting adds to a string of recent reports of triangle-shaped objects seen over Southern California and Death Valley, near the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR) where Area 51 is located. On his Uncanny Expeditions YouTube channel, Otteson described camping in the Tikaboo Valley, on public land overlooking Area 51’s restricted airspace and front gate.

Around 1am, he filmed what appeared to be the B-2 flying overhead from the northwest, reportedly originating from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. Hours later, he observed the “Dorito” performing a low flyover from the same direction, passing directly over his position.

While the triangle’s flight path was similar to other military aircraft, Otteson noted key differences in its appearance. He explained: “Although the B-2 has a similar V-wing design, the Dorito had a drastically different body, with a noticeably flatter trailing edge, no wings, or jagged rear section like the stealth bomber.

“Are we looking at a classified test flight or run-of-the-mill training sortie? I certainly think we have something interesting here.”

Since November 2025, there have been 85 reports of triangle-shaped UFOs worldwide, including sightings in the UK, Canada, Germany, and Brazil.
