Nicki Minaj says she’s Donald Trump’s No1 fan as she joins him onstage in weird second

The Superbass rapper said her love for Donald Trump will not change, no matter how much “hate” she gets for it – and defended him against what she branded “smears” and “bullying”

Nicki Minaj declared herself Donald Trump’s ‘number one fan’ as she took the stage with him at a speech today. And she said her love for the Donald will not change, no matter how much “hate” she gets for it.

The Superbass rapper was brought up on stage after she donated cash to fund “Trump Accounts”, the US equivalent of a Child Trust Fund. But she took the opportunity to defend the President against what she described as “bullying” and “smears”.

After taking the stage, Ms Minaj said: “Hello. Well I don’t know what to say, but what I will say is that I am the President’s Number one fan, and that’s not going to change.” She went on: “And the hate, or what people have to say it does not affect me at all. It actually motivates me to support him more. And it’s going to motivate all of us to support him more.”

The megastar’s intervention comes as a wave of anger is engulfing Trump’s administration after two people were shot dead by ICE in Minnesota. He was heckled repeatedly at a rally in Iowa last night, dismissing the protesters as “paid agitators”.

Ms Minaj added: “We’re not going to let them get away with bullying him and you know the smear campaigns, it’s not going to work, okay? He has a lot of force behind him and god is protecting him. Amen.”

“Trump Accounts” give $1,000 to every newborn, so long as their parents open an account, which is invested in the stock market by private firms. The child can access the funds when they turn 18. Trump said that the accounts are one of the most “transformative” policy ideas ever.

Parents can contribute up to $2,500 annually in pretax income, much like they do for retirement accounts. Parents’ employers, relatives, friends, local governments and philanthropic groups can also pitch in. Yearly contributions are capped at $5,000, but contributions from governments and charities don’t count toward that total.

Children born before 2025 won’t qualify for the $1,000 incentive, but parents can still open accounts for them as long as they’re under 18. Parents can still invest up to $2,500 pretax for those kids.

After Ms Minaj left the stage, Trump quipped that it was “better than getting [Treasury Secretary] Scott Bessent up.”
