For those without the budget to invest in a completely new mattress, a clever approach to prolonging an existing mattress’s life involves purchasing an affordable topper. Numerous customers have taken this route, describing the sensation as akin to ‘sleeping on a cloud’.

As for fitting, the topper comes with ‘easy fit’ straps, ensuring a secure attachment to the mattress.
This Silentnight product holds the top spot in Amazon’s best-selling mattress toppers and is currently available at £49.99 for king-size, £55 for double, and £37.99 for a single. It also comes in ‘small double’ and ‘superking’ sizes.
For those seeking a more luxurious choice, Simba’s Hybrid Essential Mattress Topper comes in at £349 for a king-size. According to Simba, these come with a ‘unique’ supportive Aerocoil microspring layer to provide an extra level of comfort, with one shopper saying it ‘totally transformed my bed’.
Meanwhile, at a similar price range to the Silentnight, the £34 AirCloud 10cm Mattress Topper at Debenhams gets a solid five stars from shoppers, who loved its thickness, quality and value for money.
