‘I lived out my Burlesque fantasy in London’s sexiest underground karaoke bar’

EXCLUSIVE: Daily Star’s Bekka Barnard took a trip to the most alluring London hotspot that will transport you straight into the seductive world of the iconic 2010 film Burlesque

If you’ve ever watched the 2010 blockbuster Burlesque featuring Christina Aguilera and Cher and wished you sing like them, dance like them and become a part of their world, then look no further.

Sing like Cher and dance like Christina at BAM Karaoke, an immersive 22-room sing-a-long experience like no other in the country. Each room’s identity is totally unique and every one of their incredibly luxe suites is decorated entirely on theme with a very grown-up touch, suitable for groups of every size.

Choose from The Library Room, The Slipper Room, The Corset Room, The Pink Elephant Room, The Games Room, The Zebra Room, The Masquerade Ball Room, The Astrologer Room and The Scandalous Room just to name a few, and you can even book for a party of 30 people or more by contacting the venue directly.

We were lucky enough to bag a spot in The Drawing Room, a gorgeous pod that can fit upwards of five people and covered floor-to-ceiling with sassy Renaissance-style nude paintings (which were far too naughty to include a picture of here) that watched our every move, making us chuckle as we caught their eyes while belting our hearts out to our favourite Xtina chart-topper.

The room comes quipped with a large bench and two tables, perfect for a quick rest in between songs, and a station where visitors can change the colour of the lights, adjust the backing vocals and even film themselves singing along to their favourite tunes – a feature we most certainly made the most of.

Visitors can claim their snaps and recordings via their BAM Karaoke account, a lovely idea that keeps everyone present, off their phones and focussed on the music.

BAM Karaoke’s extensive music catalogue could easily have you spending more time searching then you will singing, as they have everything from forgotten favourites to noughties throwbacks, boy band ballads to girl group number ones and everything in between. If you can think of it, they’ve likely already got it pre-loaded and ready to go.

We spent the night screeching to Nicki Minaj, Dorothy Moore, Sugababes and even some of classic drum and bass tunes to get us in the mood for the rest of the evening ahead.

We popped over to the service tablet in the corner whenever our throats got a little sore from all that warbling and order ourselves, well, anything! Water, wine and other alcoholic beverages are available at the press of a button and delivered within a matter of minutes.

A special shout out to the friendly staff, who were such good sports and smiled the entire time as we gave them our best rendition of It Must Be Love while they dropped off our order (so sorry, once again…)

When your time in the room eventually comes to an end, the party doesn’t have to stop there as just outside is a 10 foot backlit bar, a live music stage, a DJ booth and an outdoor terrace to keep the good vibes pumping all night.

You’ll be pleased to hear that they also have a 1:30am licence, making BAM Karaoke the ultimate girl’s night out location for birthdays, hen parties, divorce parties or even just a well-deserved Saturday night on the town at the end of a long week.

BAM Karaoke has officially marked one year in London after opening on Victoria back in April 2024, so book your spot and see what all the fuss is about. Secure your booking here and get planning your next favourite night out!
