World ‘on brink of nuclear holocaust’ as China and Pakistan ‘could launch nukes at Israel’

Political commentator warns China and Pakistan could launch nuclear strikes on Israel if it attacks Iran, as Pakistani-mediated ceasefire halts conflict over Strait of Hormuz

China and Pakistan have threatened to launch nuclear strikes against Israel if it deploys atomic weapons against Iran, placing the globe on the “brink of a nuclear holocaust,” a political commentator has cautioned.

This follows a shocking exchange on Israeli television this week where a journalist advocated for deploying an atomic bomb against Iran which would “kill people, everywhere”. Last night, the US and Iran agreed to a Pakistani-brokered ceasefire that will see the Strait of Hormuz reopened and hostilities suspended, almost six weeks after the US and Israel launched its initial strikes on Tehran.

China and Pakistan have said that if Israel nukes Iran, they will nuke Israel,” Cenk Uygur, activist and co-creator of The Young Turks, said during an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored.

“So here we are on the precipice of a nuclear holocaust because this baboon [Trump] is in office”.

Uygur, a former supporter of the Republican Party, launched his left-wing populist news programme in 2002, and has since dedicated his career to criticising right-wing politics, reports the Mirror.

His remarks follow Israeli journalist Shimon Riklin raising the possibility of striking Iran with a neutron bomb during a startling panel on Israel’s Channel 14, which featured the country’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben‐Gvir.

Addressing Ben‐Gvir, Riklin said: “Why aren’t we using what’s called an atomic neutron bomb in Iran? It’s a type of atomic bomb that doesn’t damage buildings, it kills people in a limited way everywhere”. When asked for his opinion on the matter, the security minister responded: “Let him speak,” as he nodded and chuckled.

Ben‐Gvir – who has previously faced sanctions for “repeated incitements of violence against Palestinian communities”, continued to laugh with Riklin before stating: “I’m a member of the inner cabinet, the responsibility on me is immense.”

The panel then debated reports that Israel had utilised “unconventional weapons” to strike a missile base near the Strait of Hormuz. Riklin, who grinned at Ben‐Gvir, said: “I recognise your smile, Minister Ben‐Gvir, you’re hiding something here.”

The two-week ceasefire was announced just 90 minutes prior to Donald Trump’s deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif pleaded with the US president last night to extend the deadline, suggesting a two-week ceasefire plan to “allow diplomacy to run its course”.

“I earnestly request that President Trump to extend the deadline for two weeks,” Sharif posted on X. “Pakistan, in all sincerity, requests the Iranian brothers to open Strait of Hormuz for a corresponding period of two weeks as a goodwill gesture.

“We also urge all warring parties to observe a ceasefire everywhere for two weeks to allow diplomacy to achieve conclusive termination of war, in the interest of long-term peace and stability in the region.”

Consenting to the ceasefire, Trump stated in a post on Truth Social: “Based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, of Pakistan, and wherein they requested that I hold off the destructive force being sent tonight to Iran, and subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks.”
