WPP contemplating sale of PR division to chop prices

WPP is exploring a sale of its public relations division as its chief executive battles to revive its fortunes.

The advertising giant’s advisers at Goldman Sachs are assessing options for the future of its firm Burson, paving the way for a sale.

Boss Cindy Rose, who stepped in to reignite the group in September, has already announced plans to cut costs by £500m a year by 2028.

Burson is understood to have been on the chopping block ever since Rose set out her plan to transform the business.

WPP is combating fierce competition from rivals while coming under pressure from the rise of artificial intelligence (AI).
