All we know as Russia hits UK with ‘sleep well’ threat on named Brit targets – Daily Star

Need to know

Three UK locations – in London, Leicester and Suffolk – have been named by Russia as potential targets, alongside sites across several European nations, as the Ukraine conflict escalates

Here is everything we know about the direct threats on Britain from Russia

  1. Russia has directly threatened to strike targets within the UK. Vladimir Putin’s defence ministry disclosed locations of what it alleges are manufacturing sites supplying the Ukrainian military with equipment used to attack Russian territory.
  2. Three of the locations are in London, Leicester and Suffolk. Additional sites span several European nations. The action is “increasingly drawing these countries into war with Russia “, the ministry proclaimed.
  3. Senior Kremlin figure and former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev cautioned Western leaders that the warning should be “taken literally.” Medvedev serves as Putin’s deputy on the Russian Security Council.
  4. “The list of European facilities which make drones [and] other equipment is a list of potential targets for the Russian armed forces,” he warned. “When strikes become a reality depends on what comes next… Sleep well, European partners!”, reports the Mirror.
  5. The catalogue identifies what seems to be Ukrainian missile manufacturer Fire Point with an alleged location in Mildenhall, Suffolk, which also hosts an RAF base. It operates as a vital US air force hub. Alleged locations in London and Leicester were also detailed.
  6. “The leadership of several European countries, amid mounting losses and a worsening shortage of manpower in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, decided to increase the production and supply of UAVs to Ukraine for strikes on Russian territory,” the Russian defence ministry stated.
  7. “A significant increase in UAV production for the Kyiv regime is planned through increased funding for Ukrainian and joint enterprises located in European countries that produce attack drones and their components.”
