Woman in her 70s dies after being attacked by two canines at home as police arrest 37-year-old man

A woman in her 70s has died after being attacked by two dogs inside a house. 

Emergency services rushed to Willis Pearson Avenue, Wolverhampton, at about 1.30pm today following reports that an elderly woman had been injured. 

Despite the best efforts of first responders to save her, she was pronounced dead at the scene. 

A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control and causing injury resulting in death. He was taken to hospital with hand injuries. 

Both dogs – which are not believed to be a banned breed – were destroyed at the scene following continued aggression when emergency services arrived.
