Migrant gang rapist was already on run for homicide earlier than coming to UK on small boat
An Egyptian fugitive wanted for murder entered the UK on a small boat before gang-raping a woman on Brighton beach as he and his accomplices now face deportation
A small boat migrant who took part in a brutal beach gang rape was a fugitive that had been convicted of murder in his homeland, it has emerged.
Karin Al-Danasurt, 20, should never have been allowed in the UK when he crossed the Channel in 2024 to lodge a sham asylum claim. It is believed the Egyptian national managed to dupe border officials by giving a fake name to slip through the net.
Just a year later, he and fellow asylum seekers Ibrahim Alshafe, 25, and Abdulla Ahmadi, 26, lured a drunk woman to a secluded spot on Brighton beach for a harrowing sex attack after a night out.
Following his conviction on Thursday, it emerged Al-Danasurt fled Egypt in 2022 after being convicted of murder. He spent two years living as a fugitive across Europe before arriving in the UK, the Daily Mail reports.
Papers found in his room suggested he was sentenced in his absence after failing to surrender to Egyptian police.
While his defence team claimed it was his brother who held the conviction, prosecutors confirmed there were “ongoing inquiries at a very senior level” regarding his crimes abroad.
During a five-week trial at Hove Crown Court, jurors heard how Al-Danasurt gleefully filmed the rapes of the woman, who was in her 30s and virtually unconscious.
The heartless thug even claimed he was “helping” the victim by building evidence of the attack, despite laughing as his friends treated the woman like “meat.” When questioned, Al-Danasurt, who had to use an interpreter, bluntly told the court: “Rape is sex.”
Robert Jenrick, representing Reform UK, said: “These evil men should never have been in our country. I couldn’t care less if they have a hard time back in Egypt, they should be deported so they never step foot in this country again.”
Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp said: “Tens of thousands of illegal immigrants are flooding into the UK each year by small boat and we have no idea who they are or what their history is.”
The victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told the court the attack has “literally ruined” her life.
She said: “I was begging them to stop and they wouldn’t. Every time I close my eyes I can see them laughing at me. They’re evil.”
The trio, who were all failed asylum seekers at the time of the attack, are due to be sentenced on July 15. The government has vowed to deport them, though experts fear they may attempt to use Human Rights laws to block their removal.
Detective Chief Superintendent Richard McDonagh of Sussex Police praised the victim’s “strength and courage,” while the CPS slammed the “cynical, predatory and callous” nature of the gang.
