‘Dine and sprint’ gang allegedly rack up £500 steakhouse invoice as cops problem CCTV enchantment

Police are hunting a group of people who allegedly enjoyed a meal at Miller & Carter before making off without paying – officers have now released a CCTV image of people they are keen to speak to

Police are keen to speak to a group of people following an alleged “dine and dash” incident where a party ran up a bill of over £500 before fleeing. Officers have issued CCTV images of people they want to trace after a group of diners avoided paying at Miller & Carter restaurant in Kettering.

On April 6, a party of diners enjoyed a meal at the establishment between 5pm and 7.10pm, racking up a whopping £539.70 food and drink bill before apparently leaving without settling up, reports the Mirror.

A Northamptonshire Police statement said: “The incident happened at the Miller and Carter restaurant on Monday, April 6, between 5pm and 7.10pm, when a group of people ordered £539.70 worth of food and drink, and then left without making payment.”

“The people in the images could assist police with their enquiries so they, or anyone who recognises them, should call Northamptonshire Police on 101.

“Please quote incident number 26000213409 when passing on any information to make sure it gets to the right person as quickly as possible.”

This isn’t the first occasion this particular Miller and Carter outlet has been landed with outstanding bills. On March 27, two blokes departed the restaurant without settling their tab. The duo had enjoyed a midday feast between 2pm and 3.10pm before strolling out of the well-known restaurant chain.

A fortnight later, police released photographs of the men in a bid to track down the alleged culprits.

Earlier this year, we reported how a woman claimed she has been publicly shamed after footage alleging she failed to settle her restaurant bill went viral. Mollie Birch, 28, looked embarrassed in the video, which has been viewed by 1.2m people, as she waited to depart whilst being recorded on a railway station platform by restaurant workers.

Mollie visited Rancho Steakhouse, Waterloo, by herself on Saturday, February 21 at 6.20pm. She requested Mexican dippers as a starter, then a ribeye steak with chips for her main dish, plus three pornstar martinis and a Kopparberg, totalling £59.25.

Mollie had eaten at the establishment previously and hadn’t encountered any problems with the team, service or payment on either visit. Following her departure at approximately 8pm, she subsequently spotted a gentleman approaching her at Waterloo Station whilst she waited to return home to Bootle.

CCTV footage seen by the ECHO shows Mollie departing the restaurant before starting to sprint down the street. Two staff members pursue shortly afterwards to catch up with her.

Mollie maintains she was rushing for the train. Mollie insists she settled the full bill with cash before departing and wants her name to be cleared.
