Champion jockey Sean Bowen to win race named in his honour

The brilliant jumps rider is fancied to land a four-timer at Ffos Las on Tuesday as he sets his sights on AP McCoy’s record of 289 winners in a season

WINNER machine Sean Bowen is the man to follow at Ffos Las on Tuesday.

The champion jockey has set out his stall to beat AP McCoy’s record of 289 winners in a season and he can get off the mark for the new 2026/27 campaign.

THE BOOLA BOSS (4.18, trb) is among his best chances – in a race named in honour of the jockey himself.

The 10-year-old tackles the Sean Bowen Champion Jockey Handicap Chase and arrives on the back of a victory at Chepstow last month. He is a six-time winner and is fairly treated on some of his best form.

Bowen also rides STAR TURN (3.48, nb) who was a decent second on his first run in 14 months in April in a first-time visor and can go one better for Sean and brother Mickey Bowen. Star Turn looks nicely handicapped.

Bowen also has strong claims on FAIRYE FORTH (3.18) and RADHARC NA SLAINE (5.22) in the last race. Punters will be hailing BLACK CAB (8.30, nap) if they get their money on and he gets the nap vote at Wolverhampton tonight.

He posted two fine efforts in March at the West Midlands track and from a good draw is a confident choice to score under Saffie Osborne.

STREET DANCER (6.30) is unexposed and worth a market check while Oisin Murphy makes the trip for just one ride – WOSTA (7.00) for John and Thady Gosden.

Jim Goldie runs 15 horses at Ayr and he rarely leaves one of his local tracks without a winner.

ASHEN (3.00) is among his better chances and Paul Mulrennan can steer him home.

It would not be a surprise if Goldie’s SUMMERSTORMS DREAM (4.30) outruns her odds.

At Hereford EDGEWELL (5.42) is fancied to win for the third time at the course in the opener and another previous scorer at Hereford, OAKLEY (7.17), can also resume winning ways.

Expect ETTORE (7.47) to improve on previous efforts.
