KEIR STARMER: ‘Farage, Badenoch and Polanski cannot meet this second – however Labour is’
Prime Minister Keir Starmer urges voters to choose ‘progress’ over ‘the politics of anger’ as millions prepare to cast their ballots in a make-or-break set of local elections
Politics is about choices. The choices that affect you and your family.
On Thursday, when you go to put your vote in the ballot box, there’s a clear choice on that piece of paper. Unity or division. Progress versus the politics of anger. The right plan for our country up against easy answers that will lead us nowhere.
A Labour council working with our Labour Government to deliver your local services, or Reform who are intent on driving a wedge between our communities.
Our country has faced huge challenges in recent decades. Together the British people have stood firm in the face of Tory austerity, the challenges Brexit has brought, the pandemic and the Conservatives recklessly trashing our economy with Liz Truss.
We’ve got through these tough times by standing together in the hope of a better future. Not by dividing our great nation. It’s that better future that my Labour Government is working every day to deliver alongside you.

And today, as you know, we face even more challenges. I’ve been clear from the start that the war in Iran is not our war – but we know there’s a cost to that conflict that is being felt across Britain right now. And it’s a cost that will likely get worse in the coming months.
What such global instability demands is strong leadership. That’s why I’ve never wavered in saying that we will not be dragged into this conflict. It simply wouldn’t have been in Britain’s national interest to do so.
Nigel Farage and Tory Leader Kemi Badenoch would have seen our Armed Forces deployed headfirst into a war with no plan and not so much as a second thought for the consequences here at home.
If they had been in power, their reckless actions would have put lives on the line abroad and hammered family finances here at home. They have both proven that they are unfit for high office.
Meanwhile Green Party Leader Zack Polanski still believes that the UK should leave NATO and turn our backs on our international allies – just when global cooperation has scarcely been more important.
If that weren’t bad enough, he shamefully questioned the actions of the brave police officers who ran towards danger to apprehend the alleged suspect of the appalling antisemitic terror attack in Golders Green. He is completely unfit to lead the Green Party.
Farage, Badenoch and Polanski have proven they cannot meet this moment. But my Labour Government is.
As your Prime Minister, I stand by the promise of change I made you nearly 2 years ago outside Downing Street. We must continue that important work and deliver a renewed Britain for you and your family. There’s much more to do, but together we’re making real progress.
We said we’d make work pay – and we have. With a pay boost for over 2 million low paid workers and the biggest boost to workers’ rights in a generation.
We said we’d give the next generation the best start in life – and we are. By lifting half a million kids out of poverty after we scrapped the Tories’ cruel 2 child limit.
We said we’d fix our NHS – and we are. Waiting lists are down by over 400,000 and we’ve hired 2,000 new GPs.
While others talk, Labour is delivering for you. Back action to ease the cost of living. Back our NHS. Back a better future for your local community. On Thursday, choose unity over division. Vote Labour.
