A member of the secret service has been arrested and placed on leave after he was allegedly caught pleasuring himself in front of a group of horrified hotel guests who “feared for their lives.”

Secret service man John Spillman, 33, was hit with indecent exposure charges after the alleged indictment took place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Miami Airport and Convention Center on Sunday 3 May, court records state. Hotel guests claimed Spillman followed them from the hotel lobby to their rooms and alerted security after they saw the 33-year-old man “masturbating next to their room.”

A lady staying at the Mianoia hotel told police she and others “immediately entered their room because she was in fear for their lives,” during the horror. Security claimed they found the secret service employee with his “pants lowered and masturbating,” as investigation into the ordeal are ongoing. Spillman, who is from Marble Falls, Texas, and is based in Washington, DC, has been placed on leave by the Secret Service.

The agent was part of the security perimeter screening at the Trump National Doral for the president’s visit at the 2026 PGA Cadillac Championship. Secret Service Chief Richard Macauley has issued a statement on the alleged incident and announced Spillman has been put on administrative leave.

The chief said: “The alleged conduct is unacceptable and stands in stark contrast to the professionalism and integrity that I demand of our personnel.”

Macauley added: “This agency takes these matters with the utmost seriousness; consequently, the individual has been placed on administrative leave pending the results of this criminal matter and a complete and thorough internal investigation.”

Prior to the incident Spillman had been stationed on a Florida assignment which concluded on Sunday. The man was off duty at the time of his arrest. On Monday the secret service agent appeared on bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Spillman is expected to be released at some point on Tuesday morning.
