‘This luxurious pizza oven creates completely cooked bases – for a really cheap worth’
As a first time pizza oven tester I was definitely apprehensive – but I managed to find one model which left me shocked and delighted at both the usability and the price
The pizza oven market has become something of an over-saturated-free-for-all, with many brands promising perfectly stone baked bases – with disappointment inevitable.
But for once, I am not just eating a delicious Margherita – but also my words. The Firebloom GP01 Gas Pizza Oven arrived promptly at my door and has been nothing short of a delight ever since. Easy to assemble with readable instructions, I was all fired up and away in under 30 minutes. That’s not something said often these days.
This model is priced at a reasonable £199, making it one of the cheapest models on the market currently. Other giants are priced around £250.
While I would previously recommend that price point to beginners, Firebloom is the exception. It’s compact, neat, and, crucially, incredibly easy to use, making it a brilliant option for beginners or anyone who wants restaurant standard pizza without the experience.
Since its arrival, I’ve been putting the oven through its paces. Inviting friends and family around for both intimate dinners and larger garden parties, I wanted to see just how far this slender beast could go.
The size is not that large, offering one regular sized base at a time. While this will suit smaller spaces, it is noted that pizzas will come out in the true Italian style – as and when they’re ready. It’s worth noting, however, that this is the case with most of the ovens on the market.
But waiting is not something guests will have to suffer, as the pizza is ready in around 60 seconds when prepared correctly. Perfect for those nice summer evenings. No one will go hungry, at least!
As for the actual cooking experience, users will be delighted to know the oven is complete with a wide mouth and generous cooking space.
Luckily, this means you don’t need expert-level pizza-turning skills to get great results. There’s no awkward manoeuvring or stress meaning you can slide your pizza in and let the oven do the work.
Often pizza ovens are surrounded with an air of caution. But this provided a refreshingly easy cooking experience, leaving my pizza cooked well and evenly.
This was my first foray into making pizza – and I couldn’t be any happier. Easy to use, sturdy and most importantly – delicious.
