Daily Star says: We’ve bought a sinking feeling about this 12 months’s World Cup
The upcoming FIFA showpiece event has been plagued by scandal over the last few months – and now to top it all off the stadium for the opening match in Mexico is sinking. Talk about Sinko de Mayo…
The World Cup doesn’t kick off for another month. Yet this summer’s tournament has already scored plenty of own goals.
The astronomical ticket prices formatches have left fans fuming. Seats for England’s group games are being sold for almost £100k on resale sites. Then there’s the Three Lions kit, which Nike admitted had a design flaw causing an unsightly shoulder bulge. This is despite the fact the strip is themost expensive ever.
However organisers are now facing a much bigger issue. The stadium where the showpiece will kick off is feared to be sinking.
Fans have also reported chunks of the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City are falling off. The situation is so bad Nasa has started monitoring it by radar.
How on earth did we get into this mess? Surely those bigwigs at Fifa should have looked at this when scrutinising the bids to host such a mega event.
Paying through the nose is one thing. But hosting football’s showpiece incrumbling stadiums and sinking cities is madness.
Tech it or leave it?
There are few topics that polarise people quite as much as AI.
Many fear it is either going to steal our jobs or wipe us all out, or both. But for others, the likes of ChatGPT have become dependable friends who seemingly have the answer to everything.
Without doubt, AI is infiltrating every facet of our lives and children are no exception. A study has revealed half of kids in the UK have an AI-enabled toy or tablet.
And yet 47% of mums and dads reckon their children would be better off if this robot tech didn’t exist at all. This sums up the quandary many of us are facing. We can’t ignore it because it’s here to stay.
So we might as well make use of it. But we need more guidance around safety so we can make the right decisions about this ever-changing force.

NOEL and Liam Gallagher’s new Oasis documentary could be in the running for an Oscar.
Some Might Say there will be plenty of Cigarettes and Alcohol if they win it!
