Eerie second trespasser walks onto runway earlier than being sucked into jet engine
Footage showing the terrifying moment a trespasser was brutally sucked into an airplane’s jet engine has surfaced. Passengers aboard the flight said the noise of the collision was like a bomb going off
Shocking footage of a trespasser being fatally sucked into the jet engine of a passenger plane has surfaced. The incident forced passengers to flee the aircraft on inflatable emergency slides after one of the plane’s engines caught fire.
The disturbing ordeal took place on the Frontier Airlines flight 4345 at Denver International Airport in the US, on Friday night.
The unidentified victim’s remains were hurled across the tarmac of the runway after they were pulled into the plane’s jet engine. Air traffic control audio revealed airport staff saw “limbs on the runway” during the horror.
The new airport CCTV footage captured the person crossing the runway at around 11:19pm before they collided with the aircraft. A statement from the airport said: “Smoke was reported in the cabin and the pilots aborted take-off. Passengers were then safely evacuated via slides as a matter of precaution.”
The individual is not thought to have been an airport employee. It is understood they “jumped the perimeter fence” prior to crossing the runway and getting sucked into the engine.
The statement added: “The airport examined the fenceline and found it to be intact.” One passenger aboard the aircraft thought they were “going to die” after hearing the collision between the person and the passenger jet.
John Anthens, 56, a passenger aboard the plane, said: “When the engine blew up, I thought, ‘Oh sh-t, we’re all going to die.” His son Jacob, who was travelling with his father, added that his father saw the engine fire and also witnessed the trespasser’s remains hurled onto the runway.
Jacob, 30, said: “My dad said when the engine fire went up, he was able to see the legs of a human spinning around in the engine…which sounds like emotional trauma to me.”
His father added: “The majority of people didn’t know what was going on or what happened, but there was just a big explosion.
“And obviously, you hear a big explosion, people start screaming, kids are crying, and it was horrific.”
After the person was sucked into the jet engine, passengers had to be evacuated from the aircraft by the emergency exit slides. After getting out of the plane, they saw the aftermath of the horror, recounting seeing the victim’s remains on the tarmac of the runway.
A statement from Frontier Airlines has said: “We are investigating this incident and gathering more information in coordination with the airport and other safety authorities.” The statement added: “We are deeply saddened by this event.”
Transport Secretary Sean Duffy added the pilot “stopped takeoff procedures immediately.” Duffy said the trespasser “deliberately” jumped the fence and ventured on the runway. He added: “No one should EVER trespass on an airport.”
